1998's Win in Canada!
"We just got better every game and we saved our best for the finals!" was the comment coach Bob Crawford made after 1998 Atlantic Allstar team defeated a New Hampshire team 4-2 in the finals on Sunday.
"The kids played great and really improved both as players and as a team with each period of each game."
On the final day the team started with a thrilling come from behind 5-4 win over the host Outtawais team. Behind 4-2 after two periods the team would not quit and dominated the third to move on to the semis.
In the semi finals the team defeated the heavily favored Ottawa Riot team 6-4. "We really showed our stuff that game and in the end the best team won." "They are a local powerhouse and a dominant team in the Ottawa/Montreal corridor and we showed them that we not only could keep up but that we could win the small one on one battles as we did all game", was the comment of the coach.
In the finals the allstars again got off to a great start and were in control the whole way against a great New Hampshire/Massachusetts based team.
All in all the weekend was great competition and everyone parents, kids, coaches, grandparents and family friends all had a great time. "Seeing the kids come together in such a short time was great and watching them skate around the rink with the Championship trophy was my personal highlight."
"To top it all off the Rudy Ying and his mom and dad took the big trophy back to China at coach Bob's request. "Were spreading the word about the team everywhere, even the Pacific rim!" quiped Crawford.
The team is back in action again in Montreal the first weekend in May.
