93's Mini-Chowder Cup Summary
Opening Statement: The Atlantic All-stars went into Mini-Chowder Cup tournament in New Hampshire with the hopes that the true identity of the team would emerge.
Division Comments: We started the tournament by sweeping our Division in the preliminary stages of the proceeding games with a hard work ethic, strong team defense and most importantly a combined effort to follow the coaches system. All of the players did not fail to follow the direction of the coaching staff producing wins in convincing fashion. Post the Divisional sweep the Atlantic All-Stars set a goal to be the team to beat at this tournament.
Quarter Final Comments: Moving into the quarter finals the Atlantic All-Stars set the tone by beating the Rhode Island Saints in a 10 to 1 victory, setting the highest quarter final score!
Semi-Final Comments: Heading into the Semi-Finals against North Coast Hockey, this proved to be the Atlantic All-Stars toughest challenge yet. North Coast came out to score two quick goals which made the score 0-2 with the All-Stars trailing early in the game. The All-Stars fought back to make it an even score of 2-2 midway through the game. From that point on the All-Stars took control of the game to make it 4-2. North Coast was certainly not about to let down and give up; they scored late in the game to make it 4-3. In the last five minutes of the game the All-Stars with a strong defensive effort went on to win the game 4-3. The game winning goal was scored by Ken Mackiewicz with ten minutes to go.
Final Comments: The All-Stars went on to play Express USA in the finals. After being down 0-1 early in the game the Atlantic All-Stars fought back to make it 1-1 at the thirteen minute mark with a goal by Ori Benjamini For the next eight minutes it was very close battle between both teams and was anybody's game. Nick Bingaman scored with 5 minutes and 10 seconds to go making the score 2-1. All that was left was four minutes and fifty seconds of strong team defense to win the game. The impossible was accomplished and the Atlantic All-Stars won the Mini-Chowder Cup in a 6 game sweep.
Closing Comments: In the end the Atlantic All-Stars victory proved to be a true Team Effort. The work ethic and professionalism displayed by each player at such a young age was remarkable and truly inspirational to say the least. All three lines produced, and worked hard to score each goal as a team. The identity of this team was found in defense lead by our phenomenal goal tending. With special thanks to Daren Seid on an outstanding job with our defensive unit's and all of the dedicated parents who made this victory and opportunity possible, we accomplished our goals. Without them our success could never have been achieved.
